December 23, 2003

It’s that time of year, a time that some people hate while others are of a merry heart.  But I think that all of us are a little more nostalgic and think about friends, both old and new, and family more than usual.  Today, I want you to know that we are thinking of you, our mission family and wanted to write and wish you the best of the season and thank you again for your prayers and financial aid that have made it possible for us to accomplish much for our Lord and Saviour in 2003.

Funds are slowly coming in and I am purchasing tickets for the Cuba trip.  I will leave February 9th and return on the 20th.  Please continue to pray for God’s provision, as I still need about $700.00.

Brother Corrales is serving as the Cuban Coordinator and is setting up teaching sessions for the first week of February.  The Lord willing, I will be able to preach in several churches and meet with other pastors interested in training or starting Bible Institutes in their churches.  I also want to spend time with key men in order to teach them how to setup and administrate the Seminary Extension(s).  I thought that the Cuban government was relaxing the import of VCR’s and video training materials, but it seems that they are getting stricter instead.  I hope enough equipment has been found and purchased so that I can help Brother Corrales setup to copy the videotapes for the Extensions and Institutes that are being established.  In January, Maggie and I are going to start transferring the courses from videotapes to DVD Masters.  Then we can make copies.  We pray that the Lord will enable us get a set of DVD Masters and a DVD player into Cuba.

I believe that God is opening a door of opportunity in Cuba.  They may not be saying, “come over and help us” in those exact words, but there is a cry coming forth, because much Biblical truth has been lost because of the lack of Biblical training since the revolution.  The Lord willing, together, we will impact and have a great part in the training of hundreds of Cuban men, that they may go forth proclaiming the truths of God’s Word.  Please pray for the funds I need before the 9th and pray for the brethren and the work in Cuba.

For His Glory,

Dr. Jimmy Nelson
